FAQ for Guild Ball at the Las Vegas Open

The Las Vegas Open (Feb. 3–5) is just around the corner, and it’s packed with exciting, new ways to experience the latest season of Guild Ball. To help you prepare for the festivities, we have compiled the following short list of questions and answers to cover everything from schedules to event rules.

Q1: To participate in the Guild Ball events at LVO, do I need to buy a ticket?

A: Yes. First, you need to buy a fancy convention badge for LVO (which you can do here). Then, you just purchase a Guild Ball ticket here. This ticket will let you register for any Guild Ball event. (If you only want to demo Guild Ball, you do not need to purchase a Guild Ball ticket.)

Q2: How do I register for Guild Ball events? And if I’m playing team formats (like the Doubles Tournament), do both my partner and I need to register for that event?

A: So glad you asked! Stroll over to this beautiful registration form by clicking here and just follow the directions. For the Doubles Tournament, only one of you should register your team. Remember to type in your Team Name so we can avoid double booking.

After you register, you will be notified about your status via email.

If you get a response notifying you that you have been successfully registered, please remember to show up 1 hour before the event begins to check in.

Q3: If I end up on the wait list, how will you contact me if there are any “no shows”?

A: A half hour before the event begins, we will start picking names from the wait list to fill any available spots. We will also notify you about an opening using your contact information provided on the registration form, but the best way to secure your space is to show up during this 30-minute window.

Q4: Where can I learn more about each event?

A: You can read each event’s description here. This document only lists the events hosted at LVO, so it’s the best place to start!

Q7: But I don’t have Season 3 player cards or rules! What do I do?

A: You can download these resources for free from the Steamforged website. Just go to http://steamforged.com/gb-resources.

The Season 3 Player Cards will hit the shelves of local game stores starting January 20. To pre-order your deck, find a store near you using our store locator.

Q8: What about Season 3 Plot Cards?

A: Season 3 Plot Cards are required for competitive play, but we will provide print cards at LVO for competitive players to use. (Season 3 Plot Cards will officially release February 24).

Q9: What Season 3 Plot Cards will be used in the Regional Qualifiers and Championship?

A: Heroic Landing, Super Fan, Field Dressing, Sic ‘Em, Good Marker, Composure, Match Fixing, Wingback, Brace for Impact, Knee Slider, Man Marking, and Who Are Ya?

For more information, you can read the Regional Qualifier & Championship rules here

Q10: Did you recently update the Guild Ball descriptions or schedule for LVO?

A: Yes! We just revised the descriptions and schedule on 12/19 to reflect some recent changes. There shouldn’t be further updates, but if anything comes up, we will work with LVO to send out an email update as soon as possible.

Q11: Where can I learn more about each event’s rules?

A: You can read our Mob Football Association Document to learn all about our alternate formats like Doubles Tournament, Homeland Cup, and Oh Captain, My Captain. For more information on the Regional Qualifier and Championship, read the Guild Ball Regional Cup Document (mentioned in Q6 and Q9).

Q12: Do you have a Facebook page or anything where I can find other people who will be attending to schedule games in advance?

A: We have a Facebook Event page you can post to here. It contains links to many of the resources mentioned in this FAQ. Be sure to RSVP and use this page to find a Doubles partner or to see who else will be playing Guild Ball at LVO.

Q13: I have more questions that aren’t covered in this FAQ! How can I get them answered?

A: Join our discussion in the Steamforged Forums here. Our event team will be monitoring the thread to answer your questions.
