Welcome back sports fans!

Yesterday you may have seen us post about Guild Ball Playtesting Events, with a teaser that looked a little something like this:

Today we can talk to you about the super exciting new program, Playtesting Events! It’s been a dream of ours for a while now to be able to give people a really close look at what goes on inside Steamforged Games. Now that we have our shiny new HQ building up and running, we can finally start hosting events like this and showing everyone what we get up to! From here on out you can expect to see regular events of all kinds being hosted by us at our HQ.

Additionally, you won’t just see Playtest Events happening for Guild Ball. We fully intend on hosting Playtest Events for a variety of our different future projects and gaming systems, such as Godtear.

What is a Playtest Event?

A Playtest Event is a single day experience right here at Steamforged Games HQ in Manchester, UK. You’ll get to meet members of our development team and have a guided tour. Then you’ll be shown some secret new rules, models that are in playtesting at the time, or both! The rest of the day will be spent playing games with the secret new rules or models, and discussing your findings with our development team. We can then use your feedback to help us finish development!

This is your chance to get on the inside with Steamforged Games development and see for yourself what it’s like to play with unreleased rules or models. What will you get to test? It could be some new and funky core rules, expansions to Guild Ball (such as the Guild Identity Cards or Pitch Formations), or it could even be completely new and unannounced models! You won’t know until you’re here at HQ.

But how will you know you’ll enjoy the rules you’ll be playtesting? Don’t worry about that, when we run a Guild Ball Playtest Event we will ensure that there are a wide variety of awesome models and rules for you to play with. We won’t be running Guild Ball Playtest Events very often, dependent upon what rules we have for you to test, since we want each time to feel unique and special.

Okay, This Sounds Awesome, Tell Me More!

Well, the first Guild Ball Playtest Event will be happening really soon! Our first one will run on Sunday the 4th of February 2018. There will only be 32 tickets available so make sure to buy your ticket as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Tickets will go on sale on 12PM Monday 8th January and will be available to purchase via the Steamforged Webstore.

Guild Ball Playtest Events will be happening at Steamforged Games HQ:

Steamforged Games Ltd
Unit 1 Kestrel Road
Trafford Park
Manchester
M17 1SF

Guild Ball Playtest Events will start at 9am and conclude at approximately 6pm. Attendees should expect to be able to play at least three games during the day with all playtesting materials being provided for you. However, it is a good idea to bring your own gaming models, measuring tools, tokens, and anything else you usually use during games of Guild Ball with you.

Tea, coffee, soft drinks, and snacks will be available throughout the day. A free lunch is included in the price of your ticket, please make sure to let us know about any special dietary requirements. Additionally, our onsite store will be open for the duration of the day in case you feel like picking up any of our latest releases!

Keep It Secret, Keep It Safe

Because these events are about testing models that are unfinished, all attendees must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before being allowed on the tour or to see any of the playtest rules or models. Signing the NDA means that you aren’t allowed to discuss any unreleased rules or models seen during the day until they have been shown to the public by Steamforged Games. So, no going home and posting everything you found out on a forum, blog, or social media!

Additionally, there will be no mobile phones or other recording devices allowed during the Playtest Event. Any mobile phones or recording devices must be stored in our secure lock-box for the duration of the event to keep them safe.

That’s it for now folks, make sure you set your alarm clock for 12PM Monday 8th January to get your ticket, this event is sure to sell out fast!
