VETERAN'S OPINION - FILLET
Hello Sports Fans!
Last week’s discussion of Obulus definitely got the groups on Facebook and Twitter talking. This week I’ll be looking at a Captain I’ve had particular difficulty with – Fillet, Flashing Blade. It’s not just myself who has found her hard to control, in the UK we’ve seen a rise in popularity of Fillet led Butchers and she’s taken the tournament scene by storm – able to kill pretty much anybody in a single activation and the capability to negate many defensive abilities due Blood Dance allowing her to make a Dodge after causing damage to a bleeding target.
Even Obulus isn’t safe if she is able to reach base contact! He will use Unpredictable Movement to jump 2” away, then Fillet can use Pain Circle to make him Bleed and suffer a point of damage allowing her to dodge 1” towards him. With her Melee Zone of 1” this puts her back into engagement range. Her incredible speed and mobility is a welcome change to Butcher’s Coaches who have had a strong, but linear, Captain in Ox.
The one major downside is that Fillet is a rather greedy Captain who will take influence from other team mates to ensure she has her full complement. Her speedy accomplice and Vice-Captain Shank is also a greedy player so it’s likely that Butcher’s Teams will have a very telegraphed turn but it only matters if you can survive the initial onslaught. However, with Veteran Brisket on the horizon who is able to earn an additional point of influence with every goal scored we may see an influence healthy looking Butcher’s Team despite Fillet and Shank’s insatiable hunger.
With this in mind I’ve asked the community once again to help me understand how they have been dealing with Fillet and have compiled their answers below. Will we see Fillet take the crown at the upcoming UK National Championship? Only time will tell. For more information on upcoming National Level Events check out the link below.
Next Week I’ll be looking at Superstar Captain – Midas of the Alchemist's Guild. If you have any tips/tricks for how to get the best out of Smoke then email email@example.com and hopefully you’ll see your pearls of wisdom in next week’s Veteran’s Opinion.
