Welcome back, sports fans!
It’s the start of week three, and the Free Cities Draft shows no sign of slowing down! Since our last update we’ve received a mind-blowing number of results, and we’re not even halfway through. The Shadow Games have well and truly taken grip over the Empire of the Free Cities, and you’re all at the centre scheming away. At current count, we’re well over 1,000 reported results, so let’s keep this pace up for the rest of the event!
But before we go any further, if you’re new to our Community Events and aren’t sure how to get involved, don’t worry. You can find out everything you need to know here. Come and join in the fun!
For the Family
At the start of last week, we thought we’d give you a quick update on the Guild standings. Several of you asked for them after seeing the most popular players for each Guild, which we thought was a reasonable request – and we also knew there would be plenty of surprises in there too. Who would have guessed the Farmer’s Guild would be top dogs? Or, for that matter, that the Hunters would be bottom?
It just shows that going against the grain can pay off.
Today, we thought you’d appreciate seeing how those standings look again, a week on. We were as interested as you no doubt are to see if the numbers changed after last week, and when we checked them? Ohhh boy!
Now, at first glance it doesn’t look like the positions have changed much. The Alchemists have chased the Fishermen out of the top three; the Masons are steadily climbing now they’ve laid some solid foundations and started working together.
But what you can’t see here are the numbers.
Whilst this is the second time we’ve seen the Farmers at the top, they’re only there by the slimmest of margins, with the Blacksmiths and Alchemists hot on their heels.
The race between the Morticians, Masons, and Butchers is even closer – the Mortician’s Guild lead the Mason’s Guild by one result, and the Butcher’s Guild by three. If you’ve submitted a result for any one of these teams since we wrote this, you could already have changed the standings.
At the back of the pack the competition is fierce too – especially with both the Brewers and the Engineers gunning hard for Knuckles.
And the question remains… when will the Hunters wake up from hibernation and realise an event is happening?
A long way to go yet…
Just like last week, if your Guild is lower down the table, it’s far from over. We’re only approaching the halfway mark, and there’s still plenty to play for. Keep an eye on the Keynote at Steamcon US, Sports Fans, where we’ll have the next update for you…
