Godtear Announcements at NOVA Open

Recently at Steamforged Games we attended the NOVA miniatures game convention in Washington. At this convention we had a keynote where we talked about the campaign and post-Kickstarter plans and releases for Godtear. Read about the Guild Ball announcement here.

With Godtear we are going to be covering the three pillars of organised play; Campaign Play, Tournament Play and Special Events.

Campaign Play

Campaign Play is going to be one of the main forms of organised play for Godtear. Campaign play sees players matched up to specific locations to play games. Each location has a special rule that modifies one of the Godtear scenarios in a unique way. After the game, each player will earn godtears that they can use to spend on champion upgrades. Their location card will also tell them the next location card they need to take.

Each champion will have a double sided upgrade card that has two different upgrade paths themed around specific godtear types. Rangosh has a Death side focused around dealing even more damage. His Chaos side is focused on moving models, both friendly and enemy. For example, Whiplash allows Rangosh to teleport across the battlefield.

Each upgrade card features three upgrades; a stat upgrade, an upgrade to an existing skill or trait and then finally a completely new skill. Each of these upgrades is cumulative and must be taken in order. For example, Rangosh must take his level 1 upgrade before he can take his level 2 upgrade.

After each game, players will earn godtears that they will spend on upgrades for the champions in their warband. Players can choose to use their godtears on a single champion or they can distribute them amongst all of their champions.

The first campaign pack will come with the kickstarter and we will be adding to the campaign with additional packs in future. In each of these additional packs we will be taking onboard community feedback to evolve and refine the campaign rules.

Tournament Play

As seen with Guild Ball, Steamforged has a well-established reputation for excellence when creating organised play documents for tournaments, and Godtear will build upon this.

Initially, our focus will be to encourage events that are accessible for new players who are learning the game, and/or have never previously attended tournaments. Our aim is to grow the Godtear community, and introduce the game in a relaxed and friendly competitive setting.

At the time of release, tournaments will be simple to learn and play in, before evolving over time to add additional elements as the Godtear community establishes itself. This will also allow us to be dynamic, providing the opportunity for listening to feedback and shaping tournaments around how our community engages with Godtear.

Special Events

The final way we will be supporting Godtear organised play is with special event packs. The first of these will be a new player focused launch pack celebrating the retail release of Godtear. These will focus on teaching players the game, starting with single champion learning games and then eventually building up to full sized games.

In addition to these retail focused events,  we will also be providing special events for conventions and custom campaign weekends.

Post-Kickstarter Releases

Though the kickstarter is hugely important to Godtear, it is just the first step. At Steamforged Games we are going to be supporting Godtear with new releases after the kickstarter delivers and hits retail.

One of the main releases will be additional champions. Without further adieu we would like to introduce you to two new champions.

Brand New Revenant Shaper Champion

Last year at SteamCon UK we cryptically introduced everyone to an adorable Ragnaruff. We can now reveal that the Ragnaruffs are the followers of a new revenant shaper champion.

This champion is the master of death and controls the battlefield by knocking out enemy models. Additionally the Ragnaruffs that accompany him are the first followers in the game that can remove the banner of an enemy champion.

Feel free to speculate on what his name could be.

Brand New Goblin Maelstrom Champion

Sneaky Peet has been the favourite of many Godtear fans due to his unique look and plot phase focused playstyle. Our new goblin samurai focuses on the plot phase focused playstyle of Sneaky Peet. She is quick on her feet and brings additional speed to the warbands she is a part of. Both her and her followers excel at removing enemy followers during the plot phase.

Feel free to speculate on what her name could be too!

That covers everything we announced at NOVA and we hope you are as excited for the future of Godtear as we are!

Customer Service Improvements | SFG

Hi Folks,

We currently receive many customer enquiries every week here at SFG HQ. Ranging from lovely words of support, questions about release dates, and queries about missing or broken parts.

Our Customer Support Team work very hard to respond to all your enquiries in a timely and effective manner. Since the lead up to the 2018 Holiday Season, we have struggled to keep up with the sheer number of emails, as the number of enquiries has rapidly grown! As a result, we recognise that we’ve not got back to all of you as promptly as we would hope to, with many of you still waiting long periods to receive any acknowledgement from us at all...which we don’t think is an example of good customer care and isn’t a service we feel proud or satisfied of giving you.

We want to take accountability for this and apologise for letting you down. We’re truly sorry for the long wait times, and lack of prompt resolution. We want to make a meaningful change and provide a consistently prompt & friendly response with a focus on finding a positive resolution for you.

So, we are currently beavering away behind the scenes, taking a hard look at changes we can implement to our systems to support us achieve this. We are starting to make some changes, and the first one we wanted to share with you, will be going live in just one week’s time!

As of Monday 11th February, we will request that all inquiries to customer support will be submitted by completing a form via our website. You will be able to upload photographs or supporting evidence, essential for damaged/ faulty or missing parts. You will be requested to send relevant order numbers and your postal address, which will help us ensure we have the correct records when locating missing orders etc.

Our aim is to make the way you get in touch with us more efficient. You provide all the information we require in one hit when you first reach out to us. Then we are more likely to be able to resolve your issue straight away. Thus, eliminating frustrating wait periods or back and forth emails. We will continue to look for ways we can improve and enhance your experience with us and welcome any feedback you have that can help us to improve further.

During the week leading up to the new system being implemented we will still be responding to tickets as normal via the support@steamforged.com email. Once the new system launches next Monday any outstanding tickets will receive an email containing a link to the new form which we’d request you fill out and submit. From this point forward, all customer service enquiries will be handled via the new form system.

We understand those that may be frustrated from having not received a resolution from an enquiry that was sent in upwards of a month ago having to resubmit a query. We hear you, but a consistent level of information is the only way we can ensure a higher standard of support can be achieved, and outstanding tickets from the current system simply don’t provide what is required. We truly feel that we need to start from the ground up to ensure a consistent level of customer care can be met.

Thank you so, so much for all the support you’ve shown us so far. We really appreciate how kind, patient and understanding you have been during this growth period. We are grateful to everyone who has shared their thoughts and experiences with us honestly and directly, and by doing so, helped shape how we deliver our service moving forward.

Hopefully when you do need to get in touch with us, we want to make that experience as easy as we can.

All our best,

Steamforged Support Team

Unable to Post Kickstarter Updates | SFG

There is currently a bug on the Kickstarter website preventing updates from being published. We can load them in, save and preview them… but the publish button has vanished. We’ve contacted Kickstarter regarding the issue but based on queries to their social media accounts it’s a wide spread problem.
