Toward the back end of last year there was confusion as to where to find official information regarding SFG. We’d like to take this moment to reiterate that we, SFG, have not been an active admin in any fan organised groups regarding moderation activity within them.
We’ve been an admin in fan organised groups on social media to promote various events across the years. By being an admin, SFG (and Jamie Giblin, our Community Manager) were able to schedule posts, and include fan organised groups on the ‘Groups’ tab of the official SFG social media pages.
However, to remove any further confusion about the moderation of the fan organised groups, SFG will be leaving them. We wish all the admin teams the best of luck and want to clarify that SFG staff will remain as members, but that all official communication will be made via the SFG Blog, SFG Newsletter and associated social media pages. These articles will then be shared into the appropriate fan pages to ensure the community all get to see them.
SFG staff members posting in fan organised groups do as an individual that is part of the community, who plays and supports the games. This, much like most of this article, is to clarify the difference between what is and isn’t an official SFG announcement and give our wonderful community some direction on where to go to get ‘the official scoop’.
If you want to sign up to the SFG Newsletter to stay up to date with all SFG Announcements click the link: http://eepurl.com/c7NCLP
Alongside this we’d also like to announce that you will no longer be able to send messages to the official SFG social media accounts. Direct messages have been disabled to ensure that all enquiries are handled in the same way, so our customer support team have a consistent level of information for all enquiries. This is all part of our improvements to our customer service, which you can read more about here.
Going hand in hand with the above announcement, we will also be closing the Steamforged Forum on March 11th.
Throughout 2018 we’ve seen the rise in popularity of social media platforms such as Facebook, Reddit, and Discord. These platforms promote a welcoming community and make interaction within the community nice and easy. This trend has seen activity on our forum decrease significantly, to a point where maintaining its presence simply doesn’t feel worthwhile.
One aspect of the forums that we want to keep are the rules queries that come up in our games. We will be releasing FAQs for our game systems via steamforged.com/resources every quarter, with the first set to release on March 11th, 2019.
To send in a rules query head to steamforged.com/rulesquery (which can be found under the ‘Resources’ tab on our website) and fill out the form which can be found there. The development team will look through the submitted questions and determine which need to be added to the official FAQ’s. If a rules query arises that requires immediate resolution the FAQ will be updated ahead of the usual quarterly cycle. We will of course notify if this happens via a blog. Please note that there will be no direct response to the query submitted via the form.
We’d like to thank every user who has contributed to the Steamforged Forum and hope that with a month’s notice you are able to collect your favourite articles & photos.
