Guild Ball News! Free Starter Set & Full Range Now Available | 10 Years of Steamforged
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Guild Ball, and for Steamforged as a whole!
We’ve released multiple videos over the past couple of weeks, including a live Guild Ball Q&A, a Guild Ball community address, and our 10-year anniversary kick-off. So, whichever video or post led you here, and whether you’re a new or returning player, this post should have the information you’re looking for.
We’ll be answering multiple key questions, including:
- How to get the free Guild Ball starter set
- How to get the rest of the Guilds
- How to get the cards
- Status of the 4.4 updated cards (created in partnership with the Guild Ball Community Project)
- What’s next for Guild Ball
Quick Summary
As of today, we’ve made every official Guild and Minor Guild available to order right here on the site. For those new to Guild Ball, we’ve also made the entire starter set free to download, so you can 3D-print the minis yourself and give the beautiful game a go!
As part of this, we’re working with the Guild Ball Community Project who have been, and continue to be, fantastic custodians of the game.
For more details on the background behind this decision, check out our 10-year anniversary kick-off video for a quick overview, and the Guild Ball Q&A and community address if you’re a returning player or would like more in-depth info.
How to Get the Free Starter Set
We wanted to give more people a way to play Guild Ball, which is why we’re releasing the entire starter set for free. If you’re new to Guild Ball, click here to find out more about the game.
To get the digital STL files, PDF cards, and PDF rulebook for the Guild Ball starter set, just head to this link. These files won’t cost you anything, so you can download them right away, print the miniatures yourself using a 3D printer, and start playing!
To help you get started playing the game, check out Watch It Played’s fantastic tutorial below.
If you don’t have access to a 3D printer, but would still like to get the starter set teams, you can order the Brewers here, Masons here, and Lucky here. You’ll need to download and print the cards, too, which you can find here. There’s also an online rulebook.
How to Get the Guilds
Every official Guild and Minor Guild is now available to order here on the site! To see the full collection, click here.
Once you’ve placed your order, your minis will be produced in high-quality grey resin, no assembly required. It could take up to 7 days for delivery, depending on where you’re based and what shipping service you choose. Bulk orders of £200 or more (with free shipping) could take up to 30 days.
You’ll need to download and print the cards (and rulebook, if you like), which you can find here in our resources section.
4.4 Card Update
As part of the announcement, we confirmed we’d be updating the Guild Ball cards / rules to incorporate some of the great changes made by the Guild Ball Community Project (GBCP).
We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: the GBCP have done a wonderful job carrying the torch for Guild Ball and we’re incredibly thankful for all their efforts.
We spoke about this in more detail in our Q&A and address videos, but our intention isn’t to wade in and take over. The GBCP are still very much active and we’re working alongside them.
In that vein, after more conversations with the GBCP, we’ve collectively agreed not to release the 4.4 update just yet. Our collaboration is a new venture for all of us, and it’s an important one to get right, which means we’ve got a bit more work to do together before the updated cards are ready to release.
We’ve had some positive and productive conversations with the GBCP so far, and we’re excited to see what the future holds.
In the meantime, you can download the most recent official cards and rulebook here.
What’s Next for Guild Ball?
We’ve been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support for Guild Ball since the announcement. Guild Ball was the first game we brought into the world, and to say it still holds a special place in our hearts would be an understatement. Still, we feel it’s important to take things slow and steady.
Right now, our main goal is to give Guild Ball a place to live on and a way for new players to get into the game, which we now have. We talked a bit about next steps in our live Q&A, and we’ll have a post in the next week or two following that up. To make sure you don’t miss it, sign up to the newsletter.
For now, Guild Ball is available again for anyone and everyone who’d like to play, including the free starter set. If you’d like to chat with us or hang out with other fans, you can find us in the Steamforged Discord. We’d love to see photos of your matches, check out your mini painting progress, and hear about your games, so do come and say hello!
There’s also a great community Discord run by the Guild Ball Community Project, which you can join here.
Until next time!
