The Shadow Seraph is Saeryn’s statement of intent for the future of Khymaera’s approach to conflict. Where Rhyas’ creations have survived mostly through stealth, subterfuge, and hit & run tactics, Saeryn’s creation is a vanguard warbeast intended to challenge their opponents head-on.
In other words, it’s time for Khymaera to stop hiding in the shadows and start making your foes regret discovering your precious cradle.
A new shadow descends
Don’t let the Shadow Seraph’s elegant silhouette fool you. This is no delicate creature of smoke and scale.
Its draconic form is vast, powerful, and wreathed in darkness. Shadow flames tear across the battlefield, jaws of darkness snap shut around the unwary, and its lashing tail can make even the hard-armoured targets falter.
A beast built to outlast
Shadow Seraph’s power manifests as a Blighted Surge, allowing it to respond as enemy attacks land.
Each time it’s attacked by an enemy melee or ranged attack, it can shed fury and be forced to unleash one of its Animi. The more it’s attacked, the more times its Animi will trigger.
And it doesn’t bring just one Animus.
But three new Animi to bear.
Each brings a different tool to prolong its existence, allowing Shadow Seraph to counter enemy aggression with a toolkit of tricks.
Cover your opposition in a Smothering Gloom, blinding all nearby enemies. Obscure the Shadow Seraph in Roiling Darkness, stacking cumulative hit and damage penalties to both melee and ranged attacks. Or break the opponent’s lines with an Umbral Pulse, pushing away nearby foes.
Hammer, meet anvil
This incredible defensive power comes at a cost, however. The Shadow Seraph’s purpose is not to destroy, but to outlast.
Where the majority of Shadowflame Shard are a hammer to smash their foes to pieces, Saeryn has just gifted them with the perfect anvil upon which to break their enemies.
