Introducing Newsmachine – August ‘25, Part 1
Latest from the forge
Where Warmachine Wednesday is your weekly drop on the latest lore, rules, and releases, Newsmachine is where we’ll share updates on non-gameplay stuff like events, new license partners, and what we’re doing to grow the game and community.
Basically, we’ll fire up the Newsmachine whenever we’ve got something important to say that isn’t related to new releases, gameplay, or lore. Newsmachine posts will sometimes also include short surveys at the end, so you can help keep us updated, too.
Warmachine at Gen Con

Cutting to the chase, Warmachine was our biggest seller at Gen Con! Which is no mean feat for a show that mainly focuses on board games and RPGs.
The stand was busy all weekend and we had some great conversations with distributors and retailers to get Warmachine into even more stores. Overall, it was a resounding success, but there are always things we can do better.
Here are some key learnings we took away for next time:
-
More colossals! The newly-released Phantasm sold out within minutes. As it’s a high-value model, and Gen Con tends to skew more toward board games, we hedged our bets on how many to take. Next time, we’ll bring more.
-
More battlegroup boxes for the latest army! The Old Umbrey Battlegroup Box totally sold out before the last day.
-
Clearer event descriptions. Some attendees were (understandably) expecting a narrative event experience closer to the one we ran at AdeptiCon. We’d pitched the events for a more casual / beginner audience. Next time, we’ll make sure descriptions are clear so everyone knows what to expect.
-
Cabinet teases and cool demo tables are a win — we loved seeing your photos and speculation around the minis and printed material we not-so-subtly had in the cabinet, especially as it helps those not able to make it feel part of the action. We’re fans of Easter eggs (as anyone who’s paid attention to Mat Hart’s background in interviews will attest), so you can look out for more sneak peeks at shows and otherwise.

Production update imminent
Demand for Warmachine continues to grow. While growth is great, we see and understand the frustration in the existing community due to product availability. This is something we take seriously.
We’re working on a more detailed update that covers how we’re scaling to handle this, which will be shared via the next Newsmachine update.
Community support
As you’d expect, growing demand has led to growth in customer support requests. Especially from April onwards, after the Cygnar Gravediggers launched and interest in Warmachine blew up post-AdeptiCon.
(On the board game side, we also happened to be fulfilling several crowdfunding campaigns at the same time — a perfect storm.)
At its height, some tickets were waiting weeks for a response. This is not the level of service you expect and it’s not one we find acceptable. We can only apologise and thank everyone for your patience while we got tickets back under control.
We’ve now got an even bigger support team. It took some time to get our new members up to speed and to slay the ticket beast, but things are now back to normal and the majority of tickets should get responses within two working days.
We’re hiring!
If you’re interested in working on Warmachine with us, we’ve got four new career opportunities to check out:

To conclude the first Newsmachine post, we couldn’t put it any better than this:
