Night Terrors & Iron Lich Commander Rules Revealed | Warmachine Wednesday
Wednesday has arrived, which means it’s time for your weekly drop of new content and features in the WARMACHINE app!
This week’s update for subscribers is a brand-new Battle Forge installment, “Dark Offerings.” In this scenario, one player is trying to unlock the power of an ancient soul cairn by conducting a series of rituals while their opponent attempts to thwart those efforts at all costs. “Great power requires great sacrifice,” as the intro to this scenario states, and you’ll see how far you are capable of going in order to reach victory…
However, before the battle unfolds in the new scenario, it’s time to show off the rules for the last models from the upcoming Cryx Necrofactorium Auxiliary Expansion.
Rules Reveal: Night Terrors & Iron Lich Commander
Sailing over the battlefield with the keening sigh of scything blades in the air, the Night Terrors strike cold fear into the hearts of those who face the Necrofactorium on the field. These apparitions appear to focus on the weak and injured, using Finisher to pick off enemy models that have already been damaged. If you see the Night Terrors descending on the battle, know this—there is no escape from a death sentence carried out by one of these grim nightmares.
The Iron Lich Commander is a spellcasting solo that can slip stealthy through the lines thanks to abilities like Invocation of Bitterest Night, and scavenge souls from the dead to feed back to other models or boost their own attacks.
Knowledge of the Damned also allows the Iron Lich Commander to spend soul tokens and force other models to reroll an attack or damage roll. With the Iron Lich Commander overseeing proceedings, victory for the Necrofactorium is not only expected, it’s inevitable—why not simply accept your new undead overlords sooner rather than later?
Subscriber Content | Battle Forge: Dark Offering
The first player needs to execute the Soul Offering by performing a Dark Ritual at each of three Ancient Monolith objectives and then securing the Soul Cairn at the end of any of the second player’s turns.
The second player needs to prevent the Soul Offering by ensuring the first player never secures the Soul Cairn after performing the required Dark Rituals.
