Bubbling boilers, big boars, and pig lore — Warmachine Wednesday
It’s Warmachine Wednesday, and we’ve got a fresh batch of updates simmering on the boil.
The Crucible Guard are back at it with new releases, pre-orders, and defences, because nothing says “workplace safety” like rocket packs. MiniCrate is also at a turning point, with the Blighted Spinner about to slither out and make room for someone… more demanding. And because January clearly wasn’t pig-heavy enough, the Thornfall Alliance Compendium is landing in the Warmachine app today.
Oh, and one more thing. Warmachine’s now got its own Discord! Consider it a new staging ground for your list building, lore discussions and all things Warmachine.
Today’s TL;DR
- Crucible Guard releases & pre-orders – Core Expansion, Auxiliary, and defenses
- Thornfall Alliance Compendium – more piggy lore than you can shake your trotters at
- Steamroller 2026 – January balance update is live and Steamroller 2026 is now in the app
- New Warmachine Discord – a dedicated home for lists, lore, painting and reports
- MiniCrate – Blighted Spinner is leaving soon. Who’s next in the crate?
Alchemical wildcard, Gorman di Wulfe — Pre-order
Sample a concoction or two with Gorman di Wulfe. The mad or ingenious di Wulfe is fighting alongside the Crucible Guard or hireable to the highest bidder, usually whoever can supply him with the most alchemical ingredients for his next unhinged concoction. Keep a lookout for di Wulfe when he arrives for pre-order.
Turn up the heat — Crucible Guard releases
The Crucible Guard Core Expansion arrives later this week here and on the Warmachine 3D Store. If you’ve been craving more alchemical firepower and pushing science to its limits, your lab’s about to get busier.
Ruined by a concussive lance in the invasion of Llael, Prospero should’ve been one of the Order’s greatest warcasters. Saved by his brother, Syvestro, Prospero now watches over his brother as a towering mechanical man.
While his warcaster gift is muted in this new form, Prospero fights on as a journeyman warcaster, pushing himself (and his battlegroup) with Guided Fire and detonating unstable warjacks, all the while he hunts for the breakthrough that’ll bring his full power back.
The Crucible Guard perfected self-propelled artillery with the Dragon’s Breath rocket, a long-range bombardment that arcs high over the battlefield before delivering a volatile payload.
On impact, each rocket detonates in a concussive blast, then disperses a fine aerosol of harmful alchemical agents, shrouding the target area in a lingering cloud of toxic gas.
Crucible Guard rocketmen are a swift mobile infantry division using advanced rocket packs, granting an edge over their ground locked foes.
Ranging ahead of the main force, the rocketmen are able to harass enemy positions, assault flanks, pick targets off with Crucible Arms Weaver carbines, and drop gravity bombs into packed formations. All while staying well away from retaliatory strikes.
Find out more about who’s ready to deploy.
And if you like your “area control” to come with a side of don’t-step-there, the Crucible Guard Defenses are also landing. Secure the perimeter and protect the labs.
Unstable compounds incoming — Crucible Guard Auxiliary Expansion pre-order
Make way for the Crucible Guard Auxiliary Expansion coming to pre-order later this week, led by the eclectic Marshal General Baldwin Gearheart, alongside his current iteration of his ever-faithful, albeit reluctant, Mr Coggs.
With a full suite of Crucible Guard trickery, the Assault and Storm Troopers hold the line while the specialists get to work, mixing volatile brews and unleashing whatever the labs of the Golden Crucible have been cooking up.
Leading the charge are Doctor Alejandro Mosby and Trancer, backed by Hutchuk, an Ogrun Bounty Hunter, Containment Operatives, failed experiments, and a light warjack.

All hail the swine — Thornfall Alliance Compendium
Farrow are bipedal half-man, half-boar creatures found predominantly throughout the wilds of eastern Cygnar, southern Llael, and the Bloodstone Marches.
Having existed on the barren fringes of civilization for centuries, the farrow are no strangers to conflict. They are accustomed to doing what they must to survive, and while their technologies are crude by human standards and often overlooked, the farrow have proven themselves to be remarkably adaptable. They are universally loathed by other communities due to their brutish outlook and behavior—an animosity exacerbated by the fact that farrow warbands often prey upon and scavenge from remote villages, farms, lumber camps, and traveling merchants.
Despite this, throughout history the farrow have found success in offering their services for hire in the battles and wars fought by the more civilized nations and settlements around them. Mercenary life has been profitable for this hardy people, providing a wealth of battlefield experience and opportunities to scavenge fallen enemies—although it has done little to endear them to the troops they fight alongside, who largely still view the farrow with prejudice and consider them to be expendable assets.
No longer content to fight at the bidding of others, in recent decades the farrow have begun to shape their own destiny. This is due in no small part to the successes of their increasingly capable leaders, and in particular the infamous Emperor Carver Ultimus Esq. III, self-styled Bringer of Most Massive Destruction.
United under the banner of the Thornfall Alliance and now part of a nascent empire, the farrow are poised for the first time to have a voice in the fates of the Iron Kingdoms and Western Immoren, as they grow in power and influence.
January’s been overflowing with pork, and we’re not done yet.
The Thornfall Alliance Compendium hits the Warmachine app today for subscribers, packed with lore, hierarchy, and the ins and outs of life among the Farrow.
Get the who’s who, see where everyone sits in the pecking order (of course, Carver’s is in his rightful place at the top), and find out what the Thornfall Alliance has in store for Western Immoren. Then, head to the #loremachine channel in our shiny new Discord to talk about it. Speaking of which…

MiniCrate – Oriax is here to claim your soul
Stepping out of the void and into the limelight comes Oriax, the Void Walker, and February’s MiniCrate won’t be the same again. This is a limited-edition alternative sculpt of Oriax, the Soul Slaver, the Warcaster from the Orgoth Sea Raiders Command Starter.
Leading the cursebound, Oriax channels blasphemous soul magic in this striking new sculpt. Wearing a fearsome new mask, of the uncaring face of a man who abandoned mortal concerns long ago, he stands triumphant atop the discarded corpse of a fallen enemy.
If you want Oriax commanding your games, make sure you’re subscribed to MiniCrate between January 28 and midnight on February 27. You’ll lock in this sculpt and receive a fresh, exclusive miniature every month.
Give yourself the gift of MiniCrate. Enslave Oriax, the Void Walker, to your will, if you can.
