Euthia Returns to Kickstarter! Guide to the Core Game
Greetings, heroes. The final chapter of Euthia, Cruel Frost, is coming to Kickstarter on May 2nd this year!
(If you aren’t already following the campaign, you can do that here.)
Many of you will already know a lot about Euthia.
For those who don’t, we’re starting our journey to Kickstarter with the core game, Torment of Resurrection.
This guide covers everything you need to know about the highly-rated core game, including the four R’s: rules, reviews, resources, and a little reminiscence.
(For those already familiar with Euthia, we’ll cover the expansions in upcoming posts. Sign up here for the newsletter.)
Where it Began
Did you know? The first ever Euthia prototype was created back in 2015 by Diea Games, and went through more than 200 iterations to get to where it is today.
Now, it’s a highly-rated board game (8.6 on BoardGameGeek) with a growing fanbase!
Curious about the history? Here's a super quick summary video here from Always Board, Never Boring that covers the key details in under 5 minutes:

About the Game
Explore an evolving world of magic and monsters. Euthia is an open world fantasy board game (for 1-4 players) you can play competitively, co-op, or solo.
What’s in the Box?
In this short video, Weekly Game Night shows you what’s in the box and gives some of the gameplay basics.
Choose Your Hero
Although it’s up to you which path they ultimately follow, each hero begins with a past and playstyle.
Although she was punished for using magic, Áel doesn’t let the past darken her present. She channels her energy into kindness and helping those in need.
What Skoldur lacks in stature, he delivers in brutal force.
A skilled hunter, Keleia learned many things during her time with rogues and thieves.
Maeldur may seem calm, but his eyes betray the fire in his soul.
A loner, Taesiri prefers her own company. That might be for the best — the secret rage she carries inside is so strong, it’s almost material.
A master of fighting, Dral has no equal when it comes to handling weapons.
And those aren't all. The expansions add new heroes, who we’ll meet in upcoming posts.
Story
The core game story takes place in multiple, infinitely replayable scenarios.
Euthia is a land tormented. From the skies, three mighty dragons inflict misery on the people below.
On the ground, dark magic known as ‘Faer’ has given rise to terrible monsters. Corrupted creatures, like giant scorpions, bats, and snakes.
Humanoid threats, like the Blood Witch and wretches addicted to Faer.
And nightmares like the Undead Knight and Shadowbeast.
But hope, perhaps, lies in the hands of your heroes. The path you choose will give you the power to overcome these horrors…
Scenarios
To give you an idea of how Euthia plays, let's check out some of the scenarios. You can play scenarios in any order, but we’d recommend beginning with The Hunt.
In The Hunt, you’ll learn all the game mechanics in a short, seven-round scenario. Even those living close to the Church are terrified to leave their homes. Take down at least one level two monster to start building your reputation.
In Faer Invocation, you’ll get a taste of the dark side, harnessing Faer magic to weaken your enemies.
In Eminent Threat, the Church of St. Michael has been overtaken by enemies. You’ll need to join forces to push them back!
You’ll also face the three dragons — Farruga, Mirrezil, and Brasath — in three increasingly challenging boss fights.
Defend settlements against Farruga. Face insidious curses and protect the Church against Mirrezil. And acquire legendary artefacts to banish Brasath for good!
That’s not all. To find out more about these and other scenarios (including powerful Elementals) check out the Scenario Book*.
