Brexit, Shipping, & EU Customs Update
Last Updated: January 21, 2021
As you might already know, Brexit has had a pretty big impact on UK companies shipping to the EU. Here’s how it’s affecting delivery times and customs charges for orders placed here on steamforged.com.
Delivery Times
All orders shipped since January 1, 2021, have been sent using the new post-Brexit procedures.
(We’re confident we’ve got it right but like many UK companies, we’re still finding our feet with the new rules.)
Although we’re sure of our processes, the rules change has caused some backlog across the UK. And right now, our couriers are handling parcels from other sellers that are stuck in the system because they didn’t have the right paperwork.
So they can clear that backlog as quickly as possible, many couriers have had to temporarily restrict delivery services to the EU, which could cause a knock-on delay to your order.
We’re hopeful any delay will be short but we’re keeping a close eye on the situation and if anything changes, we’ll let you know.
Everyone’s in the same boat here in the UK (not literally—imagine how long that delivery would take?) so in true British fashion, we’re keeping calm and carrying on.
EU Customs Charges
We’re very happy to say shipping to the EU from steamforged.com is still customs friendly.
That means we’ll cover the VAT and customs clearance charges so you don’t have to.
(The same applies to the US and Canada.)
