A mighty yell goes out for kith and kriel with the unveiling of the Kithguard’s latest battlefield additions, coming in future to stand against the Orgoth onslaught.
Revealed in the Warmachine keynote at AdeptiCon, even Craghorn would crack a smile at the prospect of all this firepower in the steely grip of battle-hardened trollkin. Ain’t nobody bossing these trolls around.
Trollkin’s sheer adaptability seems to let them flourish anywhere on the face of Caen. Take the Fortress Kings, who ventured to Alchiere and opted to nap amongst its towering mountains, becoming one with the ancient stone as they slumbered.
Primordial, undying, and with the temper you’d expect from a stone-faced megalith that’s been awakened after sleeping like a rock, they were somehow convinced to join the cause of the Southern Kriels.
Was it genius or madness that caused the kriels to not only approach these formidable troll kings, but weaponise their stony forms in the process?
By adding cannons and heavy ordinance to their craggy flesh and rocky outcrops, the kriels transformed these hulking monstrosities into peerless weapon platforms. And, of course, they’re crewed by scores of enthusiastic pygs. What else?
Here to curtail that madness and instil a little something called order in the Kithguard ranks is General Gunnbjorn. If Gunnbjorn is the question, “sir, yes, sir” is the answer.
A tank-riding patriot who bleeds trollblood blue, Gunnbjorn was instrumental in protecting trollkin refugees as they made their way to Alchiere and, later, in founding the Kithguard.
Before that, he cut his teeth with the Trenchers, fighting in Cygnar’s armies before abruptly resigning. Although his natural discipline and aptitude let him rise fast through the ranks, Gunnbjorn couldn’t serve a kingdom that didn’t value the contributions of his people.
From there, Gunnbjorn went on to help Madrak Ironhide establish the United Kriels, precursor to the Southern Kriels and, later, the Kithguard.
Gruff, grizzled, and gunning for anyone who’d threaten the kriels, Gunnbjorn’s dedicated to Madrak’s dream of an untroubled homeland for their people. Until then, he’s more than happy to wage war on anyone who’d prey on ancient trollkin territories — be it Alchiere, Western Immoren, or beyond.
The Kithguard Battlegroup Box released this week, on the heels of the Command Starter, which means any fired-up kriel commanders now have access to 50+ points worth of ambush-loving, gun-toting trollkin — and the Core Expansion’s soon to follow, already available as an early release at AdeptiCon from booth 103.
Crack open the box and breathe deep. Smell that? That’s victory. Hoo-rah!
