In partnership with renowned board game designer, Reiner Knizia, comes a new edition of the landmark auction board game, Medici.
We’re proud of the work on Medici, and it’s been a genuine privilege to work on such an iconic staple of the genre.
With its release finally here, what can you expect from this new edition?
What is Medici?
If you’re unfamiliar, Medici is an auction board game for 2-6 players. Here’s a quick rundown of the story:
The beautiful streets of 16th-century Florence are alive with opportunity! Step into the shoes of a merchant buyer in the profitable age of the infamous Medici family. Each day, you’ll go to the wholesale market, where the highest quality wares await a keen eye and a competitive bid — the finest cloth, exotic spices, grain from fields abroad, colourful dyes, lush furs, and, rarely, gold from mines far across the waters…

How do I play Medici?
Medici requires 2-6 players. Players, now merchants, take turns bidding on goods against each other, aiming to fill their ships with the most valuable cargo.
At the end of each day (or round), you’ll receive florins for your goods. The amount will depend on the total value of your haul that day.
Be careful, though — bid too high for certain items and you may miss out on others. The player with the most florins at the end of day three will be the winner.

What’s New?
Why mess with a winning formula? The original gameplay won’t change, but the presentation is new and fresh. We’ve updated visuals and designed detailed graphics to immerse you in the charming street markets of Renaissance-era Florence.
Along with a beautifully updated setting, we’ve also introduced new character art so you can embody a unique, 16th-century merchant each with their own ship.
In the box, you’ll find new premium-quality ship tokens to thematically track your precious florins and detailed player aid cards to help with game setup.
All wooden tokens now feature full-color printed artwork, too.
