Rugged and Unrelenting — The Rivet Wars Allies are a Force to be Reckoned With!

Welcome back, Commander!
Today we’re looking at one of the original Rivet Wars factions. The Allies have been at this for nearly a decade, maybe even longer, making this battle-hardened army a force to be reckoned with.
If there’s a place war can be waged, the Allies have waged it there. They’ve got an immense amount of battlefield experience, their tactics are tried and tested and, before the Nemoans emerged, the Allies were already winning.
Join us for a closer look at a few of these formidable Allied units.Hardy and versatile, the Allies favour weaponry that’s effective against specific enemy unit types. To make their vehicles effective against a wider variety of enemies, they tend to have multiple methods of attack, multiple weapon types, or both.
As a general rule, the Allies are great at clearing out enemy infantry and lightly-armoured units for their own infantry and heroes to dominate strategic objectives.
Riflemen
Let’s start with the basics. The Riflemen make up the bulk of the Allied forces and they have one job: keep enemy infantry clear of strategic objectives. And they’re very effective at it!
If your strategy for facing the Allies is reliant on a large number of infantry or lightly-armoured units, you’ll need to rethink that when facing off against their Riflemen.
They can’t do much against medium or heavily armoured enemies, but that means their tactics are simple: go after enemy infantry with overwhelming numbers.
M2 Wolverine
In many ways, the Wolverine sums up the whole ethos of the Allied forces:
Rugged, unrelenting, and backed up by firepower you have to respect.
They say that when the M2 Wolverine enters a battle, both sides are in it for the long haul. With defences like the Wolverine has? There’s a lot of truth to that statement.
Not only that, but the Wolverine is an expert at bolstering the defences of those around them by putting themselves in harm's way.
MT-1 Ostrich
The MT-1 Ostrich is the workhorse of the Allied forces. Manoeuvrable and hard-hitting, the Ostrich is a mobile weapons platform that can be upgraded with a plug-in turret for extra firepower. It can also serve as a mobile command unit for officers in the field.
Armed with two different weapons, the Ostrich can be effective against a wide variety of enemy unit types.
They also cost more than a whole unit of Riflemen to replace, and that’s not even counting all the rivets.
There are larger tanks and mechs out there, but the Osterich is still big enough to tank shock enemy infantry and smash whole formations of units.
Speaking of larger tanks…
M11 Double Play
The M11 Double Play (found in the Allied Reinforcements Expansion) is the largest and heaviest tank the Allies have, which makes it slow. But what it loses in speed it more than makes up for in resilience and firepower.
Able to take up to two additional turrets or officers, the Double Play is a force to be reckoned with. There’s a reason they call it a ‘superheavy’ tank.
This juggernaut can trample formations of enemy cavalry and support as well as infantry. It may take a little time to get there, but once it does, very little can stand in the way of this beast.
Following the doctrine of the MT-1 Ostrich, the M11 Double Play has two different armaments, allowing it to attack multiple different enemies each turn AND be effective against different kinds of targets.
It takes an enormous amount of firepower to bring down a Double Play, but they’re not invincible. And if they are destroyed, they’re extremely costly to replace.
These four units are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Allied units, but they give a good idea of what the Allies are all about.
