Eldritch plans unveiled

The Executioner has been hard at work already and the Keeper of Whispers isn’t far behind. But what’s next for Fane of Nyrro? Today, we’re sharing the first details on what’s inside the upcoming army boxes to help you plan your eldritch forces.

First revealed at AdeptiCon, Fane of Nyrro follows a new release pattern. Instead of Battlegroup Boxes, Core Expansions, and Auxiliary Expansions, there’s a Command Set and a series of army boxes. The Command Set, Executioner’s Toll, is already available now.

Each army box includes a themed, Skirmish-sized army (circa 50 points). These pre-built armies are designed to help guide you in how to play the army, and can also be mixed and matched to create your own lists and build up bigger games.

Of course, new approaches lead to new discoveries, and many of you are now hungry for more details on field allowance and model types so you can plan your armies. And we’re only too happy to oblige!

(No rules or visual spoilers just yet, though. We’ve got to save some surprises.)

We’ll start with Death’s Whisper, Fane’s first army box that’s already up for pre-order to release later this month:

First confirmed at AdeptiCon, each army box includes Vordak and / or Strygon warbeasts with different fixed loadouts across sets*, so combining boxes always adds something new.**

💡 Quick warbeast buying guide

Strygon and Vordak are both FA4, meaning you can have four of each in your army list. The three army boxes will get you two of each warbeast. Adding two Vordak and two Strygon boxes gets you to the full FA of 4, and opens up head and wing options to mix and match.

If you'd really like to have every head and wing option for all eight beasts, add two of each option box (Vordak and Strygon) or head to Warmachine 3D to print conversion parts at home.

There are two more army boxes to come. If you want to maintain the mystery, look away now.

Still here?

Okay, you were warned.

Coming to pre-order this month to release in August, we have Fane’s second army box, Court of Shadows:

And the third army box, coming to pre-order in August to release in September, is The Gathering Darkness…

The above covers the army boxes only, so make no mistake: there’s more to come for Fane of Nyrro.

The Executioner’s Toll, Strygon, and Vordak sets are also already available now, so you can get started before the remaining eldritch lords descend. Hysene’s just dying to swing that massive blade.

Better yet, if you pre-order Death’s Whisper directly, you’ll get an exclusive Fane Stalker variant model.

Who’s hopping on the Fane train? Next stop, Shadow Shift!

*The Death’s Whisper Strygon was previously listed as having Claw wings, when it has Bladed Armor wings. This has been updated in the listing.

**Something else we’ve updated for Fane of Nyrro is the box art, which we’re sure we can all agree looks (technical term) bloody fantastic.

However, due to a misalignment in the packaging and painting stars, it wasn’t possible for us to visually represent the loadouts of the Strygons and Vordaks for each box in the first print run.

This does mean the Strygon / Vordak shown on the box front may not match the loadout inside the box. For now, we’d recommend checking the website listing to confirm the loadout. We know this is a pain, and it will be corrected for future print runs.
