ELDEN RING Core Game FAQs
How do the sets work together?
There are three ‘main’ sets: Realm of the Grafted King, Weeping Peninsula, and Stormveil Castle. Each of these sets is its own standalone board game, but can also be combined with the other sets for a bigger campaign.
Realm of the Grafted King is the biggest set, including a 50+ hour campaign. Weeping Peninsula and Stormveil Castle both include their 20+ hour campaigns.
There are also expansions designed to work with the Realm of the Grafted King set: Flying Dragon Agheel, Erdtree Avatar and Limgrave Depths, along with cosmetic upgrades for use with all three of the core sets: the Spirit Ashes and Dual-Layer Player Board.
How are these different to the sets from the Kickstarter?
These sets include the same gameplay and stunning minis as the sets on Kickstarter. The three ‘main’ sets going to retail do have different box art — Realm of the Grafted King, Stormveil Caste, and Weeping Peninsula. The rest of the content for Elden Ring: The Board Game is exclusive and won’t go to general retail.
How long does the Elden Ring board game take to play?
Each of the three ‘main’ sets include a replayable campaign. The Realm of the Grafted King campaign is over 50+ hours, while Weeping Peninsula and Stormveil Castle are 20+ hours each.
Each campaign is made up of multiple scenarios you can also play as single session games (of approx 45-90 mins), if you’re short on time. Expansion content like Flying Dragon Agheel and Erdtree Avatar will add more time to your campaigns.
Can I play a shorter version / faster game?
You can! The campaigns are made up of scenarios that can all be played as single-session games. The Weeping Peninsula and Stormveil Castle campaigns are also shorter than the Realm of the Grafted King campaign.
Do I need the Realm of the Grafted King set to play Stormveil Castle or Weeping Peninsula?
There are three main sets: Realm of the Grafted King, Weeping Peninsula, and Stormveil Castle.
Each of these sets is its own standalone board game, but can also be combined with the other sets for a bigger campaign. The order for this is Weeping Peninsula, then Realm of the Grafted King, followed by Stormveil Castle.
If you have the Realm of the Grafted King set, the exclusive Erdtree Avatar, Flying Dragon Agheel and Limgrave Depths expansions can also be used to add new challenges and adventures to your Elden Ring campaigns.
Can I play any of the main sets solo?
Absolutely. The three main sets are all 1-4 player co-operative games, so you can play solo or with friends.
Who are the Tarnished?
The Tarnished are your characters in the game, venturing across the Lands Between on the journey to become an Elden Lord. During your campaign, you can customise your Tarnished with new equipment and attributes, growing your character as your story progresses.
Is this like playing the video game?
We’ve recreated the intense video game encounters with intelligent, card-driven combat and a unique battlegrid system. Like the video game, you’ll need to strategise and consider both timing and positioning.
The levelling-up system lets you build your own unique Tarnished from a vast arsenal of traits, attributes, weapons, armours, and talismans.
As you explore the land, you’ll flip and place new hex tiles, mirroring the feeling of exploration in the video game as you discover new areas, treasures, and enemies.
