Street Masters: Tide of the Dragon is Coming to Retail

Sounds like a good recipe for a pulse-pounding night of intense action, no?
It’s no secret we love Street Masters, and we know many of you do, too. When we revived the game through the Street Masters: Champion Edition Kickstarter, it was way too much content to take to retail (have you seen the size of the core box?).
And so, the Champion Edition — all four volumes of it — became Kickstarter exclusive.
However, since then, we’ve had a ton of interest from retailers and community members who missed out. So, we knew we had to find a way to bring Street Masters to even more people!
The solution? A dedicated retail edition of Street Masters: Tide of the Dragon, to release in February next year.
High Street Havoc!!
Unlike the Champion Edition of Street Masters: Tide of the Dragon, which has 58 miniatures, the retail edition will have just four miniatures for the player characters.
The enemies, bosses, and terrain will all be full colour art standees instead, giving it a retail-friendly price point without skimping on the high-octane action!
Wait, What Even is this Street Masters Thing?
Inspired by retro beat ‘em up video games, Street Masters: Tide of the Dragon is a 1-4 player board game that mixes the health-sapping, face-smashing action of classic side-scrollers with tactical, card-driven combat.
Play true solo mode or recruit your friends to clean the streets together. Step into the shoes of a skilled fighter, mastering your character’s unique combat deck to lay down powerful combos and punishing blows.
In action-packed Arcade Mode, select any combo of fighter(s), gang, and stage for modular plug & play fights that are different every time. Or play mysterious Story Mode to unravel the lore through your fighters’ victories, defeats, and decisions.
With four highly detailed fighter minis, standees for the All Heaven and Fire Cloud gangs, custom dice, and lightning fast gameplay, Tide of the Dragon will truly test your street-fighting skills.
Plus, get all the content from the New Challengers and Rumble Pack expansions, including standees for 6 more fighters!
What’s in the Box?
As we covered above, the retail edition of Tide of the Dragon includes 4 fighter miniatures and 54 standees for enemies, terrain, and additional fighters.
It also includes more than 500 cards, 400 tokens, 8 dice, a rulebook and double-sided map tile, and 15 dividers.
Why Tide of the Dragon?
Some Street Masters fans may wonder: why not Rise of the Kingdom, aka the original Street Masters core game?
The main answer is size. Rise of the Kingdom is simply too big to go to retail!
On the other hand, Tide of the Dragon doesn’t have a ginormous box, but it’s still packed with street-fighting action. And because it’s a standalone game* — so you don’t need any other Street Masters sets to play — it was the ideal choice for a retail edition, where shelf space is at a premium.
*Tide of the Dragon also works as an expansion for other Street Masters sets, introducing new fighters, enemies, stages, and terrain.
