New to Warmachine? Thinking of growing a local community?
With so many new and returning players turning their eyes to Warmachine, now's the ideal time for us to look at the Journeyman League!
For those not familiar, the Journeyman League is a format designed for players new to Warmachine learn the fundamentals of how to play the game in a structured way.
It’s existed for a long time in different forms, and as part of our goal to help more new players discover Warmachine, it’s time to revisit and revitalise it. And, of course, we'll be bringing you along for the ride!
SFG Staff Journeyman League
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be playing with a whole new set of scenarios in our own Staff Journeyman League. You'll be able to follow along through our battle reports, painting insiders, and new scenario breakdowns.
We’ll cap it all off by releasing an updated Journeyman League guide for you to play with in your local store or gaming club.
The scenarios we’ll be playing with are unfinished, so we’ll be making tweaks and adjustments as we go. We’d love to know what you think of them as you follow along.
Everyone playing in our League has painted and based miniatures, so we’ll also include guest painting guides from our players, too.
Who’s Who?
We of course have our League Orchestrators: Jamie Perkins and Charles Foster III.
Both of us are Warmachine players with extensive experience. We don’t want to go on about ourselves, but if you want to know more about us and some of the other SFG team folks playing in the league, you can read up here.
Myself and Charles will be writing the battle reports aimed at breaking down the scenarios being played, as well as the opposing forces on each side. Speaking of which, our starting lineup is....

What’s Next?
Each player begins with a 30 point army list. Next week, we’ll take a look through each army list and highlight the key synergies and combos they’ll be looking to pull off.
Most importantly, though, we'll unveil the 30 point scenario we'll be testing out!
After a few weeks, everyone’s army list will escalate to 50 points. During the league, we'll highlight paint jobs and show off tutorials as new models are added to people's armies (as well as battle reports, of course).
Another few weeks later, armies will escalate to 75 points as we ramp up to the finish! Best of luck to the participants, and we hope you'll join us for the ride.
