We’re super excited to finally announce we’ll be launching Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game on Kickstarter on May 18, 2023!

Fire your Clutch Claws this way to join the hunt:

Monster Hunter World: The Board Game is already getting rave reviews from backers after raising £3.4 million in 2021.

Now, we’re beyond excited to do justice to an (equally awesome) icy new monster hunting experience!

A standalone game for 1-4 players, Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game will plunge you and up to three hunters into adrenaline-pumping hunts in a frozen world ruled by massive monsters.

The first of many monster reveals: Rajang! (All assets in development and subject to licensor approval)

Grab your giant weapon and plunge into strategic, card-driven combat. Use your infamous Clutch Claw to get up close and personal with the formidable beasts. And stay alert: with turf wars, you might find your monster battles interrupted by unexpected — and lethal — invaders.

The more monsters you slay, the better the weapons you can craft, the bigger the monsters you can hunt!

We’ll be revealing more in the lead-up to launch in the Facebook gathering hub, on the Discord, through the newsletter, and right here on the blog. You’ll find us hanging out in any of the above places, so do come say ‘hey’!

Steamforged Games Announces Monster Hunter World Iceborne™: The Board Game, Coming to Kickstarter on May 18

April 11, 2023 - 16:00 GMT / 17:00 BST - Manchester, UK - Steamforged Games, the leading tabletop games studio renowned for tabletop adaptations of popular video games (DARK SOULS™: The Board Game, DARK SOULS™: The Roleplaying Game Game, Monster Hunter World™: The Board Game, Horizon Zero Dawn™: The Board Game, the Resident Evil™ board games, and more), proudly announces the upcoming Kickstarter for its latest project, Monster Hunter World Iceborne™: The Board Game.

The Iceborne board game is a follow-up to Steamforged’s wildly successful Monster Hunter: World board game, which raised £3.4 million and gained over 20,000 backers on Kickstarter in 2021. Both board games are officially licensed adaptations inspired by Capcom’s hit action RPG video game, Monster Hunter: World, which sold over 15 million copies worldwide, and its sizable smash-hit expansion, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Coming to retail later this year, the original Monster Hunter: World board game has already been receiving rave reviews from Kickstarter backers for its faithful adaptation, captivating gameplay, and high-quality miniatures. A successor rather than a sequel, Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game is a standalone game that will plunge players into an icy new monster hunting experience, introducing different quests, unique gameplay mechanics, and a new line-up of massive monsters for players to hunt.

In Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game, 1-4 players will work together to hunt down massive monsters that roam the wilds and battle them in strategic, card-driven combat. The more monsters the hunters slay, the better the weapons they can craft, the bigger the monsters they can hunt.

But this time, instead of lush forests and arid wastelands, hunters will explore a frozen tundra. Alongside the giant weapons they’ve crafted, hunters will also be equipped with the infamous Iceborne Clutch Claw, allowing them to get up close and personal with their quarry just as they can in the video game. Also new for the Iceborne board game are turf wars, where players may find their monster battles interrupted by unexpected — and lethal — invaders.

The Kickstarter for Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game will launch on May 18, 2023, with more details and previews to be revealed leading up to the launch.

Mat Hart, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Steamforged Games, said:

“We’re beyond excited to continue our journey through the Monster Hunter: World universe. There are many big fans of Monster Hunter on the team, and it’s been a pleasure seeing how positively the first board game has been received as an authentic and faithful adaptation. Now, we’re dedicated to bringing Iceborne to life on the tabletop in a way that does equal justice to the unique experience of hunting monsters through the frozen wastes. Get your Clutch Claws ready!”

The Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game Kickstarter marks yet another collaboration between Steamforged Games and Capcom, building on the strong relationship that began with the Resident Evil™ board games.
