Welcome back, Commander!

Today we’re taking a closer look at the opposing side of the Rivet Wars core game. The Blight have been fighting the Allies for over a decade. Their technological advances in the field of combat have made for a dangerous faction, not to be underestimated!

The Blight favour weaponry that’s effective against a wide range of enemy types. They also have a tendency to field more units effective at destroying heavy armour than their Allied counterparts.

In taking down heavy armour, they allow their own to dominate the battlefield.

Join us for a closer look at a few of these dangerous Blight units.

Panzerfausts

Panzerfausts are the basic infantry of the Blight. The first thing to note is, unlike the Rifleman, they aren’t limited to attacking other infantry. Epitomising the Blight doctrine of taking down armoured units first, even their infantry are armed with anti-tank weapons!

On the other hand, Panzerfausts are therefore less effective at taking out enemy infantry. For that, the Blight rely on their heroes and support units — like the MG08 Schlitten.

Like Riflemen, Panzerfausts are fast runners when they’re in the trenches, helping them gain ground faster than other unit types. This is great for getting them across the battlefield faster to claim or contest strategic objectives.

Jager Muldenstein

Jager Muldenstein is a hero you’ll rarely see in the thick of combat. That’s because he doesn’t need to be. A skilled sniper, Muldenstein is better at picking off key targets from long range.

As you’d expect, his weapon is best for picking off enemy infantry. And because he’s a sniper, he’s not bound by the usual order of attack grid that dictates which units get hit first. Instead, he can target any enemy that’s within range.

And that’s not all. Muldenstein also increases the attack range of any friendly units standing in the same square he is. Highly useful for increasing the attack range of units like Panzerfausts.

Monowheel Dragoon

Monowheel Dragoons are the ‘cavalry’ of the Blight military. Favouring mechanical advancement over actual horses, the Blight have melded the shock impact of cavalry charges with the sheer power of diesel engines.

Capable of rapid assaults, Monowheel Dragoons are able to move before attacking. This gives them a huge amount of flexibility on the battlefield.

When they make contact with the enemy, they can take out swathes of infantry with their chain attacks, hacking down one target after the next.

Zeppelin Bomber

Finally, the Zeppelin Bomber is a terrifying sight. It’s not the fastest aircraft, but whatever it flies over better get out of the way, because this thing drops plane-loads of ordnance in one hit!

Unlike most aircraft, the Zeppelin doesn’t need to keep moving to sustain its flight. It’s capable of maintaining position over a single target for repeated attacks.

Their blasting attacks are effective against all unit types and can clear whole squares at a time. Beware their steady advance and underestimate them at your peril.

You can find the Zeppelin Bomber in the Aerial Aces expansion.

There are many more units in the Blight forces to explore, but this report gives a strong indication of how the Blight go about making war.
