With the Kithguard Command Starter & Battlegroup Box rules now live in the Warmachine App, it’s time to meet one of their heroic spell slingers: Fell Captain Mailis Wroughtmourn.

From the depths of her jungle home, Fell Captain Mailis Wroughtmourn summons a thick enveloping mist to protect her forces and obstruct her foes.

Like her fellow Kithguard Warlocks, Wroughmourn uses her wide array of tricks to catch her foes unawares, but not how you might expect…

Trap Doors, but make them magic

You’ve already seen how Kithguard use Trap Doors to pop in, hit fast, and vanish back underground. Wroughtmourn takes that same tunnel network and turns it into an arcane relay, disrupting spellcasters and unleashing her plethora of hexes.

Whatever the foe, Wroughtmourn’s got a spell to ruin their day.

  • Falling on them from afar with Hunter’s Mark

  • Stripping their defences with Eye of Dhunia (one of two brand new spells!)

  • Empowering her warbeats with Hand of Destruction

  • Blinding them with Descending Gloom (the second!)

With high arcane power and near-unparalleled channelling capacity, you’ll rarely struggle to get the right spell into the right place. You will, however, need to be slightly careful how trigger-friendly you are with them. Channelling through Trap Doors removes them, and once you run out, Wroughtmourn may have to step forward to get her spells in range. And with a defensive stat line that is decidedly fragile, she definitely doesn't want to be on the front lines.

Fortunately, she’s got the tools to stay out of trouble. Lean on Admonition and Veil of Mists to keep her and her warbeasts away from the enemy’s grip. And she doesn’t stop here.

Captain, Hand Me My 8 Inch Measuring Stick

Kithguard love table-wide tricks, and Wroughtmourn’s feat is one of those chilling moments for your opponent. She throws a wrench into the works, disrupting enemy charges and shooting across the table, buying you the space to reposition, line up your ambush, and spring the trap on your terms.

Want the full rundown on Wroughtmourn’s rules? It’s all waiting in the Warmachine App, so you can start planning the most mistifying turn of your life.

Get your band of trolls together with Wroughtmourn in the Kithguard Battlegroup Box when it launches on March 26.
