Firstly, I feel the addition of these models to Dusk have felt, for me at least as an addition that has bonded the faction sections together. Whether it is with the defence fixing, having a strong defensive unit like The Last Watch or just the raw offensive models that Cylena, Benkei and Sasha have the potential to be.
When I initially saw the Frozen and Forgotten set the first caster that came to mind was Hellyth. Not only due to her ability to amplify the lethality of the models but also how she benefits the likes of Lanyssa, Cylena and the Last Watch defensively.
The first thing I was most excited to put into my Hellyth List was The Last Watch, already strong defensive/retaliatory pieces in a vacuum, with Hellyth this is just amplified. Going to DEF 15/18 with just the feat with the potential of that rising to 15/22 with Heart of Ice or Inviolable Resolve and Righteous Fury really makes them a difficult unit to shift off an objective or as a road block to the Phantasm. If you are really evil you can add the Mage Hunter Commander to give them tough.

Cylena brings some strong output with her RAT 7 POW 12 (With Prey) bow that effectively comes RAT 9 POW 14 Weaponmaster bow. But she also will take significant resources to lift her under the feat being DEF 17 ARM 16 with 8 boxes so under the feat becomes a strong contester of objectives. Oh, and don’t forget she loves reposition from the Mage Hunter Commander too!.
Lanyssa with her tool kit is really allowed to shine under Hellyth. Having Heart of Ice for either the Dreadguard or The Last Watch, allows for Hellyth to double up on the armour buff with Inviolable Resolve, or even take another spell like Deceleration to benefit more of the army against a ranged focus army. Hellyth's feat allows Lanyssa to really push forward and apply Snowsquall up the table. At 18/16 under the feat with transfers she can really cause issues to larger parts of the table.

Benkei and Sasha, her loyal felines, bring something that I have felt Dusk has needed for a while: defence fixing that doesn’t require dice being rolled. With the Chiller that Lanyssa provides, Hellyth’s feat and potentially the Phantasm providing flare you have either one -6 defence reduction, or multiple -2 or -4s; this is big in a meta where the likes of Zaateroth and Kythos are proving to be so strong. They can apply this surprisingly far too with charging and drag below having a potential threat of 20” on the debuff. But their utility doesn’t stop there, with Hellyth's feat alone, they hit surprisingly hard!
Charging in either cat is hitting at:
-
-
1x POW 17 4 dice on the charge,
-
2x POW 14 3 dice damage
-
2 POW 17 3 dice damage
-
That is roughly 33 damage to ARM 20 - ouch! Whilst being effectively MAT 11!
I truly believe that the Frozen and Forgotten set has opened up some new interesting options in the faction and look forward to trying them!

Key Synergies to look out for:
-
Fate blessed to help land Disentegration, also provides a damage buff which Horrusk lacks.
-
Feat stacking with Hellwrought, can put on Charnel Hound then sprint to contest while being ARM 20, and putting out Mage Static.
-
The Revenant Champion helps keep Horrusk alive, especially if he commits to melee.
-
The Execrators can be used as a screen/contesting piece, if the enemy weakens themselves attacking them it makes the rest of your army effectively higher ARM.
