Kapitan Maksim Azlanov didn’t rise through privilege or prophecy.
He was forged in hardship — a shepherd drafted into war, wielding a warjack’s blade and rallying broken souls into something greater. Now, as war returns to the Motherland, Azlanov leads a force united not by bloodline, but by choice.
And he is not alone.
Umbreans have begun to drink deep of ancient power. Those who survive become the Lupine Shifted — warriors touched by the Wurm, guided by instinct and rage. But some go further still, transforming into hulking Apex Lupines; living weapons bound to the Old Witch’s cause.
This is the future of Old Umbrey. Bound by spirit. Fueled by fury.
The Khador Old Umbrey Core Expansion brings 38 points of wild, synergistic power to your army — including a brand-new warlock, character warbeast, resilient infantry, solos, and a pair of savage lupines that will tear through enemies before they have a moment to grasp the true nature of their newest Umbrean foes.
Pre-order the Old Umbrey Core Expansion and answer the call of the wilds.
Unite the motherland
Kapitan Maksim Azlanov is a warlock of few words and fewer doubts. A veteran of Umbrey’s nomadic tribes and a hero of its darkest hours, he wields a blade salvaged from a fallen warjack, reforged into an icon of defiance.
Azlanov’s supernatural command of beasts and soldiers alike makes him a stalwart leader for any Umbrean force. His calm amidst chaos emboldens allies, while his raw force of will rallies the pack to turn the tide.
A ravenous hunger taken shape
A restless Primeval once bound to the outskirts of Umbrey’s hidden sanctum, The Starved was rune-etched not to slumber, but to intensify the hunt. Its instincts were magnified into insatiable hunger, driving it to tear apart anything that draws near.
Now unbound, this gore-slick monstrosity stalks new prey under Zevanna’s banner, spreading fear, rot, and ruin wherever it feasts.
Pair The Starved with Strix from the Command Starter for a devastating one-two punch of foresight and fury.
Liegemen Wardens hold the line
Liegemen recruits that were strong in arm and stature but lacked other skills were absorbed into the standing line warden infantry.
Equipped with axe and shield while donning breastplates and scaled mail underneath, their routine marches forge the grit to fight where others falter.
Trained to embed into enemy lines and survive long enough to buy time for clansmen to get in position, they form the vanguard of Old Umbrean forces.
Begin the ritual. Attach a Liegemen Primalist with this unit, and you’ll see them unleash the strength of the primal aspects, crushing enemies beneath hammering blows.
The Shearlings aren’t what they seem
Shearlings look like simple shepherds — harmless, hunched, and hooded — but don’t be fooled. These robed wanderers and their eerie herds are agents of the Old Faith, armed with druidic might and ancient pacts.
Their goats, bound with dark and malevolent powers, are more than beasts of burden. They’re rural sentries and arcane threats in their own right. When the Shearlings are near, the very land shifts to Zevanna’s will.
Deploy them as scouts, saboteurs, or subtle supports — and watch how quickly your opponent learns to fear the herd.
The lupines rise — and some never return
Those whose faith have bonded them with the natural world have developed a primal connection with what lurks deep inside themselves. After consuming Zevanna’s draught that is partially composed of the sap from Wurmwood, one can directly tap into the animalistic forces within.
The Lupine Shifted are those who’ve tasted Zevanna’s concoction and answered its call in battle. Clawed, howling, and terrifyingly fast, they retain their minds but abandon civility — rending flesh and bone with razor sharp claws.
But there are those who go further still.
The Lupine Apex is the threshold crossed — a soul consumed, a body transformed. No longer man, it is destruction given shape. An Apex Lupine does not retreat. It hunts. It kills. It rules.
Champions that sip too greedily or desperately of the draught become embodiments of the primordial ferocity permeating all the Wurm touches. Guided by an accursed voracity, these great wolf-like beasts thirst for a fresh kill. It is a one-way trip to continue existence as an animalistic servant to one’s own untamed instincts bent on destruction.
The Lupine Apex makes a perfect companion to your Feral or Primeval warbeasts from the Old Umbrey Battlegroup box, rounding out a truly rabid flank.
Channel the power of the old ways
While generals make plans and soldiers march to orders, the true strength of Old Umbrey comes from its mystics.
Animists unquestioningly join Liegemen regiments and are given the same deference as commanding officers despite their disconnection from military hierarchy. Those they deem most faithful are rewarded with an awakening that allows the chosen to commune with the powers they embrace as they are bestially shifted.
The Liegemen Primalist binds shamanic power to military discipline.
Those that bore latent arcane connections to the wilds that previously went unappreciated for their gifts had received newly discovered reverence and appreciation as the tides of faith changed.
Embedded directly into infantry squads, they awaken feral instincts in their comrades, pushing even hardened soldiers into something far more savage.
Together, they ensure that your army is more than muscle — it’s magic and madness, rooted in the raw will of the Wurm
